There are a lot of reasons for possibly wanting a tattoo removed. Maybe your tattoo is holding back from getting the job you want or you’re wearing a tattoo of some past love, it would be in your best interests to have it removed. Tattooing has become a very popular way of decorating the body, but sometimes it happens that we are dissatisfied with the tattoo and we want it removed. Depending on the tattoo designs, size and location, there are plenty of ways to remove a tattoo. This is good, because you are no longer burdened with a tattoo you regret. So, if you have a tattoo that you wish to have completely removed, you should consider all options and decide which method of tattoo removal might be best for you.
Laser Tattoo Removal
Lasers are the most common method of tattoo removal today. Lasers are the best way to remove a tattoo you regret, that does not involve cutting into the skin or occurrence of scars. This method uses pulses of light at a very high concentration to remove the tattoo. However, it can not be guaranteed that this will remove the tattoo completely. The only negative thing is that laser tattoo removal is very expensive and time consuming process. The tattoo can not be removed with only one treatment, therefore this method of tattoo removal usually requires multiple treatments. It can also cause scarring, scabs or blisters. Even though it is expensive, this is the safest and most effective way to get rid of a tattoo.
Intense Pulsed Light Therapy
Intense Pulsed Light Therapy or IPL, is a dermal enhancer and an alternative way to the laser, which successfully removes tattoos. Instead of laser light, it uses high intensity light in pretty much the same manner. First, a gel is applied to the skin and then a wand is used to emit pulses of light on the skin being treated. This method of tattoo removal is said to be less painful and more effective than traditional laser removal.
Do-It-Yourself Cream Removals
If you find laser too expensive or painful, then you can opt for tattoo removal creams.
The application of these type of creams will result in fading tattoos without any pain or damage to the skin. This is an effective and inexpensive way to get rid of unwanted tattoos. But make sure that you buy a high quality tattoo removal cream, because if you use a cheap product that contains harmful chemicals, it could negatively affect your skin.
Other Medical Methods
There are other medical methods of tattoo removal, but most of them are painful and ineffective. These methods include dermabrasion, which would “sand” away the top layer of skin through abrasive friction. Another method is excision, where the tattoo would be cut away and the skin sewn back together. These two methods can cause damage to the skin and result in severe scarring. They are only used for small tattoos or in extreme cases where laser removal is not an option.
