Industrial mixers are used virtually in any industry and some recent study showed that the mixer market is becoming a very profitable business, estimated at $600 million. One contender that is a perfect fit for this challenge is the new multifunctional mixing agitator. The mixing agitator is cost-efficient as it turns more mixing steps into one within one mixing cycle. It is a very versatile machine and is able to switch gears, due to the few independent agitators and flexible control system. This mixing agitator is known as multi-agitator, because it is designed with two or three agitators mounted on a stationary shaft. The multi mixing agitator today is far more sophisticated as it features advances in the design, heat transfer, control design and liquid induction. All these features make it more efficient, but also more competitive on the market.
The multi mixing agitator enables operators to operate two or three different agitators at the same time during the process of charging ingredients, mixing them and discharging a finished product. Usually, each agitator is controlled independently and powered by a separate electronic variable speed drive. For simple applications, the expertise suggest duel-shaft mixing agitators, as are more affordable choice for basic and slow mixing. However, flexible process lines which deal with wide and diverse range of products should consider multi mixing agitators for sale, in order to satisfy the demand and survive competition.
As we mentioned, the multi mixing agitator is driven by two or three independently controlled agitators. The best way to understand the whole process of multi mixing agitator is to have a basic understanding of each agitator.
- Three-Wing Anchor Agitator: Located down low, the three-wing anchor provides a smooth mixing and stimulates radial/axial flow. Its functions are to support heat transfer, feed materials and batch homogeneity. It is ideal for large batch sizes, as it always runs and is efficient with high viscosity materials or liquids.
- High-Speed Disperser: The high speed disperser provides a substantial flow and a vortex above the blade. It generates moderate shear and its blade can vary in design and principle of working. This makes it very flexible and easy to use and maintain. When combined with the three-wing anchor, it is the most efficient. Flexible and versatile, the high speed disperser is used virtually in any industry.
- Rotor/Stator High-Shear Mixer: The high-shear mixing agitator applies intense mechanical/hydraulic shear, using a high speed rotor or stator. The rotor has four blades which generate high speed within the stator. This makes it perfect for dissolution, grinding, dispersion, emulsification, etc.
