While painting and drawing the walls can really give the room’s appearance a certain charm, the entire procedure is simply nagging: the paint, the mess, the stains and the cleaning after it. Nope, nobody has time for that. Instead, I decided to do it the easier way – wallpapers. There are literally thousands of different wallpaper designs and patterns of various quality, so introducing a change in your interior design has never been easier. All you need to do is have a certain taste and combine it well with your furniture and other decorative elements.
I’m very into vintage style and all my furniture and decorations follow a certain hipstery niche, meaning every piece I own I bought it to remind me of a trip, an event or a favourite quote, book, movie or a song. You know hipsters, we simply love having all our dear things visible at all times. And now that I’m in front of a re-decorating adventure, I want to change the appearance of the walls in my kitchen, living room and bedroom. Boring, white walls aren’t exactly acceptable for a hipster, because they simply have no meaning. And to perfectly fit with my overall taste and apartment design, I chose to go with brick stone wallpaper.
A brick stone wallpaper gives a very artistic touch to the space, like you’re living in one of those art ateliers from the movies. But pay attention, a brick wall is not a good choice for a small space with a lot of furniture in it. It will create too much mess and clutter and it will suffocate the room.
So, target points: large rooms or small rooms with less furniture. Following these guidelines, I picked three ideas on how to decorate a space with brick stone wallpaper:
The living room

I live in a penthouse with my boyfriend and when we got the place the first thing we fell in love with was the feeling of wideness and freedom the large space with no wall-dividers radiated. There are large windows on one whole side and there’s so much sunlight coming in that you simply can’t feel bad in that room. And normally, that’s the living room. Large, wide and not many furniture elements in it. I installed a brick coloured wallpaper on that side of the wall where the windows are, so now it feels like you’re sitting in the outdoors. Plus, that brick colour goes really well with my red and baby pink elements.
The kitchen

My kitchen has a lot of metalic elements so I was a little sceptical about whether something like a brick wallpaper will fit in. But then I thought about it and I realized that metalic goes well with every colour since it’s kind of neutral. Plus, the countertop is wooden so it creates the perfect colour harmony along with the wooden bar stools. Something like this:
The bedroom
I have an opinion regarding the colour pattern of bedrooms: nothing tacky, nothing screaming and definitely nothing too trendy. Neutrals and classic – that’s my choice. So in order to combine that with the overall hipstery style, I chose white-greyish coloured brick wallpaper to avoid the clutter and be able to change the colour of the bedding more often and not be limited by the walls.
