There are certain styles that are so magical, so captivating, so endlessly outspoken and deep, that they instantly caught one’s eye. However, no matter how many times we’ve been breathlessly stunned by their invigorating timelessness, we remain afraid and unable to boldly come up with ways to steal some of that exotic fusion and sprinkle it over our own homes. This is especially true for the Moroccan bohemian style – we see parts of it everywhere, but we immediately cave in if we consider to try and pull it out ourselves.
Every time we need some tips on how to do it, the best thing to do is see how professionals do it and try to personalize what we have learned as much as we can. Although the best tip is to avoid being a copycat, sometimes drastic styles call for drastic measures.
Choose from the Palette of Joy
Bohemian home decor is characterized by energetic colours put together by intuition. This emotional element might be the biggest reason why this style cannot be learned by-the-book. It is connected with the discovery of one’s own go-with-the-flow self, but also with learning how to tame it on time. Everything has its own subliminal meaning. The natural elements coming in vibrant orange and red should be present in the décor, but you should try to choose them freely and add some personal value. The colours that are to tame the fire created by orange and red items are gray, cream, white and tan.
Make Best Friends with Geometry
Bohemian home decor relies on patterned items and accessories, such as cushions and rugs with amazing geometries. Play around with care and do not overdo it. If you put emphasis on the rugs, buy cushions that do not have an overwhelming pattern and vice versa. You can also apply the vibrant vs calming effect here, for instance, if the sofa and the rugs have rather milder and soft colours, make sure that the cushions will be able to bring that bohemian spark and liven up the whole space. Another great tip is to group three geometrically similar lanterns together and have them hanging quite low. Bear in mind that I am talking about lanterns that look like they just popped out of Disney’s Aladdin. With so many incredible designs to chose from regarding bohemian lanterns, you will not need the magic of the genie to turn your living room into a home décor magazine material.
Let Nature In
As much as it relies on powerful and contrasting emotions, the modern Moroccan bohemian style also requires natural elements to thrive. This is the funniest and the easiest part of creating this style. All you need to do is take a walk in nature and collect some petals, leaves, pebbles or pine-corns and scatter them over some decorative porcelain dishes.
Regardless of the fact whether you have chosen to completely boheminize your home, or you just want to infuse a few items into the existing décor, I am sure you will fall in love with the warmth and spirituality that it will add to your home. Once you try it out, you will always want more of it.
