I’ve never been overweight, but I’ve always struggled with having a hold of my kilos. While I wasn’t exactly a fan of fast food, I can’t say I was a mindful eater either. There was a time you’d catch me having a trip to the fridge in the middle of the night, same way Ugly Betty did looking for her empanadas. Kilo by kilo I was gaining weight, and I wasn’t much into having a balanced diet with more intake of fruits and vegetables. All would have been great if I was part of cultures where large body sizes are considered beautiful, but with my surroundings being different as it is, all I could see was everyone was slim but me.
The worst was seeing even celebs who gave birth get back to their old self quickly, just losing the weight. I can say that along with certain health issues, such as high blood pressure, depression and increased levels of cholesterol, were the turning points in my life. Risking a heart disease or stroke at young age and being on the verge of being overweight was scary enough for me to start thinking about shredding the kilos. I knew it wasn’t going to be easy, but I was prepared to radically change my diet. I figured I could implement a supplement to lose weight as part of the diet but still be mindful of not skipping actual food either.
Trying to introduce an exercising routine in my day to day life also wasn’t easy, and I found myself often coming up with excuses and thinking I could just skip a day and make up for it later which didn’t bring the desired weight results. It was a life changing experience because it’s made me realise how to increase my willpower, be persistent in reaching the goals I’d set. Out of all the available choices of supplement to lose weight, I’d chosen protein and vitamin D based ones and I can’t believe the outcome. Not only was I losing the excess weight, but I was also able to preserve my muscle mass. I could have only dreamt of toned muscles before!
I’m not going to say it’s any easier even at this point, but seeing the results of the perfect combination of balanced eating, exercise and supplements, certainly keeps me motivated. I feel happier, more energetic, my health is at its best and I can say I’ve learnt my lesson about midnight snacking and binge-eating in front of the TV. What keeps you motivated?
