A clean home is the foundation of a healthy life. But to keep your home hygienic and fresh, you first have to master your cleaning kit. The ideal cleaning kit is practical, organised, easily transportable and equipped with essential cleaning chemicals and tools that will help you achieve great cleaning results.
Not only does it provide you with everything you need on hand, but you’ll also easily notice when certain products run low and need to be replaced. The cleaning kit is your best companion in making the house squeaky clean and with the help of the right products you’ll tackle even the dirtiest places in your home.

A Neutral All-Purpose Cleaner
When you select a set of cleaning chemicals for home use, an all-purpose cleaner is a must. This product offers great results across multiple uses. You’ll be able to apply it on kitchen or bathroom countertops and all resilient floor surfaces. Whether you choose a spray or a solution that needs to be diluted, this product will save you a lot of time and trouble.
Glass and Window Cleaner
Glass and windows are easy to clean, but as long as you have the right product at hand. A good glass and window cleaner helps remove dirt and marks without leaving any blurs and dampness. Some like to make their own glass cleaner at home. However, if you don’t like the lingering smell of vinegar in the air, it’s really not the best option.

Disinfectant
For germ-filled areas, such as toilets or bathroom and kitchen sinks, nothing works better than disinfectant. This chemical is meant to kill germs and bacteria, preventing illness among you and your family members. Always use a disinfectant for tackling kitchen surfaces after you’ve cut meat on them to avoid cross-contamination.
Furniture Polish
Modern-day cleaning kits often don’t include furniture polish but it’s better not to follow that trend. Furniture polishes have an important purpose when it comes to the look of your interior and nothing can change it. First of all, they smell lovely, and second, they add gleam and shine to even the dullest of wood surfaces. Make sure to pick a mild polish solution as to not accidentally damage your furniture.
Limescale Remover
Don’t spend hours on scrubbing, when there’s a product to do it for you. Modern limescale removers are very effective. Just spray your shower screens, taps and draining boards and leave it on for a few minutes – you’ll be surprised what a good job it’s capable of doing.

Washing Up Liquid
A good washing up liquid can do miracles for dirty pots and pans and is as powerful in the bathroom, too. You can use it to remove dirt around the sink and shower tiles. Teamed with the rough side of a sponge, washing up liquid is a simple way to give your bathroom surfaces a quick refresh. The only downside wash up liquids have are suds. In other words, you will need to do another wipe with a foam-free sponge to remove it, but it’s worth it.
Bleach
Another essential product in your cleaning kit is bleach or hydrogen peroxide. Among cleaning chemicals, bleach is the strongest and most dangerous one, so be careful. Using bleach every day to disinfect your house is not recommended, however, using it once a week may be beneficial.
When disinfecting with bleach, you need to take proper precautions. Read the label, and only use the recommended amount of the product. People often mistakenly mix it with other cleaning products, but bleach is only to be mixed with water and laundry detergent.
Wear gloves whenever you clean your house with bleach and most importantly, make sure you have enough ventilation, as bleach can cause respiratory and nose irritation. So, if you don’t want to find yourself developing a sore throat or burning eyes, leave a door/window open and leave the place immediately after you’re done.
Surgical Spirit
You must be asking yourself why would you need this item in your cleansing kit, but think about all those rare glue stains, grease and gums that are extremely hard to remove. If you have small children, you’re probably no stranger to these annoyances. Well, you may be able to fix all these accidents with surgical spirit.
Just a little amount of this inexpensive product and sticky things like glue and gum will be removed quickly and easily. Another great tip for having surgical spirit around is that it works wonders on crayon marks too. What a relief to know that you can save your walls and furniture in case your kids try to use them as an art canvas.

Cleaning Tools
In the end, along with chemicals for cleaning, don’t forget to purchase all those cleaning tools such as microfibre cloths, gloves, sponges, cleaning wipes and paper towels. If you like to read the news the old fashioned way, you can try using some old newspapers you have around and reduce your environmental footprint. And if you still got space in your cleaning kit, add a squeegee and lint roller!
Improve Indoor Air Quality
Last but not least, make sure to regularly open up the windows to let fresh air get in and consider getting an air freshener. Our sense of smell is closely tied to our memory and certain scents and fragrances can transport you all the way back to another place, in another time. Besides, stale indoor air can seriously affect our health.
These are reasons enough to wake up your senses and purify your home air with air freshener sprays, an essential oil diffuser or scented candles. It’ss up to you to decide which of these lovely solutions is the best choice.
