With the busy lives we lead, we often forget to appreciate what we have. Mother’s Day is just around the corner and we need to remind ourselves how blessed we are to have our mothers around. A mother is someone who can take the place of others, but whose place no one else can take.
My abbreviation of a mother is:
M – for the million things she gave me
O – for her growing old
T – for the tears she shed for me
H – for her heart of purest gold
E – for her eyes filled with love
R – for all the times she has been right
The lessons my mother taught me guide me through life, and help me in my decision-making every day. The examples she sets inspire me every day. She balanced a full-time job, a husband, two children with grace and love, and still managed to get dinner on the table, every night. She even enrolled in college for two years at the age of 45. Yes, this is what a Supermom looks like. Watching her being both the best mother possible and a successful working woman, made me realize that balancing work and family is doable.
Be trustworthy
Whether at work or in private life, always try to leave a good impression. Be honest and hard-working; always be on time and respect the time of others. Earn the trust of your team, be patient, and always take responsibility for your own actions.
Be organized
Being organized means being in control, because for every minute spent organizing, an hour is earned. While at work, organize your time to get everything done. You need to learn how to multitask. Create and complete to-do lists. Do what needs to be done without waiting for someone else to do it for you.
Quality time
Make sure to separate work from family, even if you are not a parent. You need to make a clear distinction between the “you” at work and the “you” at home who is a mother, a wife, a friend and a family member. Do not bring your personal problems at work, and most importantly, do not bring your work problems at home. This will only frustrate you and your family and create unwanted problems. Live a balanced life, there is enough time for work and time for yourself.
Stand up for yourself
You are a creator of your own destiny and happiness. You teach people how to treat you by what you allow, what you prohibit and what you reinforce. Sometimes, you just have to stand up for yourself. It is okay to be scared, it will only make you stronger!
Relationships matter
The reality is, we cannot do it all on our own. We all need to have someone by our side. It is crucial that you have friends to rely on and talk to frequently. One close friend is better than 5 fake ones.
It is also essential that you maintain healthy working relationships. Trust your team and colleagues, as this will create a bond and help you work and communicate more effectively. This way, you can be open and honest about your thoughts and ideas. Mutual respect is very important to obtain healthy relationships at work. Be mindful and always try to fulfill what you have promised.
If you too are a working mom, do not forget who gave us life. After all, we are the only ones who know how a mother’s heart sounds like on the inside. Mother’s Day is a celebration honoring mothers around the globe, so let’s all search for the perfect gift to symbolize our love and appreciation for our mothers.
Online stores offer many interesting ideas. You can visit online sites such as www.mydeal.com.au and browse their products to find the perfect gift.
