For creating a pleasant and homey living space each room in the house should be properly furnished and decorated. Creating a stylish yet functional interior design is a creative process that enables you to express your individual style and skills. However, while creativity is of course important, the whole process also requires planning and involves some important organizational tricks.

As we mentioned earlier, every room deserves special attention. However, if you are about to become a parent, there is one particular room you should pay special attention to: the nursery. There is nothing more exciting for new parents than preparing every single detail and creating a welcoming and pleasant atmosphere for their little one. It is the place where you will have some of the most precious moments with your child, so you might as well prepare it well before your little bundle of joy arrives to this world.

The first steps into parenthood are made while preparing the nursery. From finding the perfect furniture to deciding on a colour scheme there are many important things to go through. However, one of the most important questions related to the room décor is how to decorate the walls. Well, the perfect solution that will bring colour and infuse the space with joy is incorporating a unique yet stylish wallpapers nursery design.

Wallpapers indeed offer many decorating options and online and offline shops provide many different styles that come in a variety of colours, sizes and designs. With so many options, choosing between each of the different wallpapers nursery designs can be quite a challenging and time-consuming task. So here are a few ideas that will help you transform the walls in the nursery from plain and boring to colourful and fun.

Consider different designs

When shopping for the perfect wallpaper for the nursery, choose one that will not just go well with the furniture, but also give a new dimension to the space. To create an unusual and fun interior design you can go for models in colourful stripes to make a vibrant accent wall that will act as the focal point in the nursery.

Play with shapes and colours

Decorating should be fun, so don’t hesitate to combine different colours and patterns. Framed wallpaper is the perfect solution in this case. It is the best way to play with various shapes and create a stylish nursery worthy of admiration. To give a unique texture to the space, frame colourful star shapes above the crib for example. You can also go for wallpaper with interesting animal or floral prints.

Create a beautiful and unique ceiling

Most parents forget the ceiling when decorating the nursery, but you shouldn’t make the same mistake. Papering the ceiling can transform the look of the room and give it a sophisticated and elegant touch. For example, go for wallpaper that depicts beautiful blue skies and create a dreamy ceiling that both you and your little one will certainly enjoy.

When thinking about all the ways you can bring a dose of freshness and individuality to your rooms, besides changing the curtains, the bedding or the carpets, the option to look at carefully is giving life to your walls. Let’s get one thing straight: white walls are not alive. They’re point blank like an empty canvas picturing nothing. And if you like staring at a blank surface, than look for another way to freshen your space, but if you care about the overall appearance of your rooms and the design they represent, than the walls have to be treated right. And that means putting some effort into it.

You can always go with painting your walls with one single colour, which is cool if you’re aiming towards a very simple, loose design with elements of traditionalism and class. But if you’re more prone towards playful designs, something witty and catchy, a mural for wall is the right choice.
Feng Shui also supports the use of murals, but of course, with very careful consideration of various factors like position, objects that will face the wall and the mural and similar. However, Feng Shui isn’t a law in interior design, so it doesn’t mean you have to obey it so blindly. Let’s get a little loose here, shall we?

Flowers on your walls

A mural for wall that pictures flowers in pinky or red colours on a white surface is just so cute. It’s the type of mural that works both ways: it keeps the calmness and tranquillity a white wall brings to a room and it adds the necessary splash of colour through the flowers to give it sort of spring freshness and fun. It’s the perfect choice for transforming an otherwise non-sense room design into a really fabulous ambiance.

Of course, choosing the right wall for placing the mural is a story of its own. A mural of this kind should stand as a decorative element, which means it shouldn’t be placed on the wall behind the TV or a large entertainment unit. Think something like the picture above.

A splash of colour to kill the boredom

A room in fresh colours like white, pale grey or beige is a good choice but it’s a boring one, if we have to be completely honest. You’ll eventually start to suffocate in that monotonous ambiance and you’ll start looking for something to focus your eyes on. That’s where an artistic wall mural comes into play. It doesn’t really have to picture something in particular, but it does have to be a combination of really good and powerful colours.

Bring the beauty of the city into your rooms

I personally adore the sight of a large city being brought in the comfort of my own living room, bedroom or dining room. It makes you feel like you’re not in your home, but feeling comfy and happy somewhere in a large metropolis. Black and white city wall murals are perfect for the bedroom as they accentuate the intimacy the room needs to emit. The more colourful ones are great for dining rooms.

While painting and drawing the walls can really give the room’s appearance a certain charm, the entire procedure is simply nagging: the paint, the mess, the stains and the cleaning after it. Nope, nobody has time for that. Instead, I decided to do it the easier way – wallpapers. There are literally thousands of different wallpaper designs and patterns of various quality, so introducing a change in your interior design has never been easier. All you need to do is have a certain taste and combine it well with your furniture and other decorative elements.

I’m very into vintage style and all my furniture and decorations follow a certain hipstery niche, meaning every piece I own I bought it to remind me of a trip, an event or a favourite quote, book, movie or a song. You know hipsters, we simply love having all our dear things visible at all times. And now that I’m in front of a re-decorating adventure, I want to change the appearance of the walls in my kitchen, living room and bedroom. Boring, white walls aren’t exactly acceptable for a hipster, because they simply have no meaning. And to perfectly fit with my overall taste and apartment design, I chose to go with brick stone wallpaper.

A brick stone wallpaper gives a very artistic touch to the space, like you’re living in one of those art ateliers from the movies. But pay attention, a brick wall is not a good choice for a small space with a lot of furniture in it. It will create too much mess and clutter and it will suffocate the room.

So, target points: large rooms or small rooms with less furniture. Following these guidelines, I picked three ideas on how to decorate a space with brick stone wallpaper:

The living room

I live in a penthouse with my boyfriend and when we got the place the first thing we fell in love with was the feeling of wideness and freedom the large space with no wall-dividers radiated. There are large windows on one whole side and there’s so much sunlight coming in that you simply can’t feel bad in that room. And normally, that’s the living room. Large, wide and not many furniture elements in it. I installed a brick coloured wallpaper on that side of the wall where the windows are, so now it feels like you’re sitting in the outdoors. Plus, that brick colour goes really well with my red and baby pink elements.

The kitchen

My kitchen has a lot of metalic elements so I was a little sceptical about whether something like a brick wallpaper will fit in. But then I thought about it and I realized that metalic goes well with every colour since it’s kind of neutral. Plus, the countertop is wooden so it creates the perfect colour harmony along with the wooden bar stools. Something like this:

The bedroom

I have an opinion regarding the colour pattern of bedrooms: nothing tacky, nothing screaming and definitely nothing too trendy. Neutrals and classic – that’s my choice. So in order to combine that with the overall hipstery style, I chose white-greyish coloured brick wallpaper to avoid the clutter and be able to change the colour of the bedding more often and not be limited by the walls.
