Modern cooking is all about speed and efficiency, and there is no better tool for that than induction cookware. Induction cooking is becoming a go-to method of preparing food all across the country, and for good reason. Cooking with induction technology can significantly enhance your cooking skills, from preparing homemade broth to creating easy, last-minute meals.

Induction cooking uses electromagnetic energy to heat your cookware, allowing you to better control the temperature and speed at which you prepare your meal. This type of cooking is truly a game-changer for every home cook, and it’s time for you to learn how to do it right.

From choosing reliable induction cookware to learning some simple ways that will change the way you cook forever, this guide has it all. Join us as we explore the modern technology behind induction cooking and how to unlock its full benefits.

What Is Induction Cookware?

source: kitchenwarehouse.com.au

Induction-compatible cookware is specialised cookware designed to work with electromagnetic induction cooktops. These pots and pans enable even cooking at controlled temperatures, ensuring a perfect result whenever used correctly.

This type of cookware must contain some form of iron to generate heat via a magnetic field rather than a classic, direct-heating source. The first characteristic that makes a pot induction-friendly is a magnetic bottom. If a simple magnet sticks to the bottom, it means you have purchased the right type of cookware and it’s ready to be used on your induction stovetop. Many induction-ready pots and pans are also marketed with a coil symbol on the bottom, making them easier to identify.

When cooking with induction stoves, your cookware must be compatible to work properly. Such cookware should have a level bottom that allows the pot to interact with the electromagnetic fields, which makes this type of cooking possible.

How to Tell If Your Cookware Is Induction-Compatible

When it comes to identifying which cookware is compatible with your stovetop, there are a couple of simple tests. You can always check the bottom of the pan with a small magnet. If the magnet sticks to the bottom, it means your cookware is magnetic and will fit perfectly with your electromagnetic stovetop. If you see the magnet slide off or barely cling to the bottom of your pan, it’s not suitable for use with an induction cooktop.

Another way to identify which pot will work with your cooktop is to know which cookware materials are induction-friendly. Generally, if the material composition includes iron, it means the cookware is safe and efficient for induction cooking. However, in modern cookware, most pots and pans contain iron, so when selecting the right material for your induction cooking journey, it’s all about the desired result.

Cast-iron cookware is popular in both induction and classic kitchens because it holds heat well and distributes it evenly across the surface. On the other hand, stainless steel pans are known for their durability and fast-heating qualities, making them ideal for a quick late-night dinner.

Pros and Cons of Induction Cooking

Induction cooking is increasingly finding its way into both professional and home kitchens. However, before taking the next step and buying new pots and pans, it’s important to consider the advantages and disadvantages of this revolutionary technology.

1) Pros

As modern energy prices rise each year, conserving energy in your home is now more important than ever. With traditional cooktops, a significant amount of energy escapes the sides of the pot. However, induction stovetops create energy directly inside the cookware, utilising all the heat energy generated specifically for cooking.

As previously mentioned, induction cooking allows instant temperature control. The heating and cooling process is lightning-fast, allowing you to adjust your cooking temperature instantly.

Induction cooking is also by far the safest way to prepare food. While your cookware is perfectly heated, the surrounding surfaces stay cool to the touch, minimising the risk of kitchen incidents and accidental burns.

2) Cons

Although the pros definitely outweigh the cons, it’s important to know what you are getting into with induction cooking from every aspect. Firstly, induction-specific cookware tends to be more expensive. Although the price speaks for the quality of the product, this type of cookware can be a sizable investment.

Some induction pots and pans also produce unusual sounds. Usually, you’ll be able to hear a faint humming or pinging, which is perfectly normal, but might alarm some inexperienced cooks.

One of the biggest disadvantages is that induction cooking is compatible only with certain cookware. Most of the pots and pans in your kitchen are likely made of copper or aluminium, which makes them incompatible for use with induction cooktops.

How to Use Your Induction Pots and Pans

source: kitchenwarehouse.com.au

After you’ve ensured your pots and pans are compatible with your induction stove, it’s time to put them to use. Ensure your cookware is the same size as the stovetop, then turn on the unit and select the desired temperature. Because induction cookware tends to heat up quickly, start by testing at lower temperatures before moving to higher settings.

Do not leave your pans unattended on the surface, as they heat up quickly. Feel free to use your induction pots and pans just as you would any other cookware. Whether it’s making broths or frying some delicious steak, your cookware can do it all.

Conclusion

In conclusion, induction cooking is a truly innovative way to prepare meals while saving energy and reducing heat loss in the process. Using induction suitable cookware lets you prepare delicious meals at a never-before-seen speed while giving you control over the temperature and how your meal is cooked. From shallow pans to large pots, this cookware is versatile in both design and use. When you first start with an induction set, the process may feel new or a little tricky, but practice makes perfect. Start with simple meals, adjust the temperature gradually, and watch as your induction pan becomes your new best friend.

Whether buying for a birthday, a holiday, or a housewarming gift for an aspiring chef, you really can’t go wrong by choosing something for the kitchen. Instead of wasting money on unnecessary gifts like cosmetics, perfumes, clothing pieces or accessories that might not match his/her taste, you can take gift giving to a whole new level with items that make cooking easy.

Japanese Knives

source: chefsarmoury.com

Who can say no to receiving Japanese knives as a gift, right?! Well-made, super sharp, and comfortable to hold, these are kitchen tools every cook needs to make cutting and chopping food easy and fast. Japanese knife sets are a true example of what a good knife set should look like mainly because of their sturdiness and versatility.

Usually made from quality materials like steel, quality Japanese knife sets consist of some of the sharpest blades in the world. Thanks to the used steel and the cutting-edge manufacturing process, these knives keep their sharpness longer, giving better precision and control for an extended period of time. Being able to properly cut and chop things is everyone’s wish, and aspiring cooks like your friend will certainly enjoy having a gift of this kind.

The choice of these sets is huge, ranging in types of knife sets, size and purpose. Generally speaking, these sets should contain at least one all-purpose Japanese knife that can be used on a daily basis for cutting and chopping a variety of foods like vegetables and fruit. However, you should also choose a set that contains a knife for cutting meat.

Such knives are made differently than all-purpose knives and have different blades that provide a precise cut and improved control. The greatest thing of all is that knife sets are always more cost-effective than buying Japanese knives separately, plus, you can always find some catchy online deals and have them for the same price as any other set of knives.

The thrill and joy of giving such a gift to a cooking beginner cannot be compared to anything else, as owning Japanese knives is one of the setting stones of the culinary journey. These professional knives make cooking easy and fast which is the goal, so it isn’t strange they are the first choice of chefs.

Knife Sharpener

Any knife will need a little retouch every now and then, even Japanese knives. But just like choosing anything, you should also be careful when searching for the right knife sharpener, especially because it’s a gift. Instead of buying the first one you see on the market, it would be best if you do some research and buy a good one.

While electric sharpeners seem like an easy and fast way of sharpening knives, they really aren’t good for any type of knife and steel. So, the best option you have is a whetstone also known as waterstone. This knife sharpener is the perfect way to keep a knife in good condition. In fact, it’s said that this type of sharpener can bring knives the closest to factory-finished edge both on stainless steel and carbon steel knives.

These sharpeners are available in different types of grit to be more precise, so make sure to consult with a professional on which one is the best for beginners. These sharpeners are a bit trickier than the basic pull-through sharpeners, but once your friend gets used to it, he/she will never want to change it for anything else.

Kitchen Scale

No meal, pastry or sweets can be made without having the exact measurements, and one can have them only with the help of a kitchen scale. The choice of kitchen scales is huge, however, it’s the digital ones that are the most commonly used over the years. They come in a selection of types, sizes, colours, materials and models which gives you the freedom to choose one that will meet the recipient’s taste and kitchen décor.

Cutting Board

Cutting boards are another great gift for people with beginner’s cooking skills. These kitchen items are both practical and stylish, making them much-needed for helping one chop and cut food of any kind. Cutting boards are practical and versatile pieces that can be reused as many times as you want for cutting a variety of food.

They are available in a selection of materials, however it’s wood that makes the perfect option. Wooden cutting boards seem to be the healthiest option because they are made from wood which is a natural and safe-to-use material. Wood on its own has natural oils and properties that won’t allow for bacteria to enter its core, unlike silicone and plastic cutting boards.

The best thing about these cutting boards is that they can be displayed on the kitchen countertop giving a sense of warmth, beauty and style. They also allow for being personalised, which makes it perfect for those of you who want to engrave the recipient’s name or some interesting quote.

While sticking to a certain recipe and using high-quality ingredients is important for crafting tasty meals, so is choosing the correct cookware material for your dishes. And while you can fry an egg in a cooking pot or heat a soup in a frying pan, it won’t be easy, trust me. Whether you’re a seasoned professional or an experimental home cook, having the right cookware is essential for fulfilling your culinary tasks successfully.

What Should I Look For in Cookware?

source: matchbox.com.au

When searching for durable and easy-to-use cookware in Australia, you’ll find a wide range of pots and pans for different cooking chores. Understanding the materials they’re made of is essential for picking correctly. Cooktop compatibility, choosing pieces you’ll regularly use and what you cook are other crucial factors to consider.

Examine the Material

Select a cookware type that is appropriate for the cooking methods you use. Sautéed food, for example, works best in pans with rapid heat transfer. Pots for braising food must retain heat for prolonged periods. Additionally, since white sauce and tomato sauce react with metal, you should not cook them in aluminium or copper cookware that isn’t lined.

Stainless Steel

source: matchbox.com.au

Durable, traditional, uncoated stainless steel works well for braising and browning. Stainless cookware, which is frequently offered in sets, is a kitchen workhorse that can handle anything from pasta sauce to pickling.

Pros:

Sturdy

Low maintenance and inert to food

Offers even and quick heating

Induction cooktop compatible and frequently magnetic

Oven, broiler, and dishwasher safe (based on handle material)

Cons:

Difficult to clean at times; you may still want one or more nonstick pans if you go with uncoated, and vice versa

Nonstick

source: matchbox.com.au

Nonstick cookware is coated with a ceramic or synthetic chemical to keep food from sticking and to ease cleanup. Quality nonstick coatings hold up well and release even the most delicate foods, like pancakes and eggs, with ease. They’re a good option for low-fat or nonfat dishes because they require little to no oil.

Pros:

Easy to clean

Cooking with less oil means consuming less fat overall

Most pieces are perfect for use on any kind of cooktop, including induction, depending on the primary material, which is usually aluminium

Oven-safe up to 260° C for the most part, but consider the material of the handle

Cons:

There are claims that non-stick cookware is harmful. PFOA, the “danger chemical” that everyone is trying to stay away from, was first discovered in Teflon pans back in the early 2000s and has since been connected to immunological deficiencies and cancer. However, the truth is that it has been outlawed for a long time, and any pan made after 2013 will not have this nonstick coating. It’s okay to use non-stick cookware as long as you know how to take care of it. And you can find nonstick cookware in Australia free of PFOA from trustworthy stores.

While some manufacturers now assert that their pans are safe to use with metal utensils, some pans still scratch easily. Generally speaking, food doesn’t brown well in them. Furthermore, even though these pans are advertised as dishwasher-safe, their lifespan may be shortened by the dishwasher’s high heat and abrasive detergent.

Uncoated Cast Iron

source: matchbox.com.au

An excellent nonstick cookware alternative. You can heat the incredibly durable cast iron to temperatures that will brown meat. Moreover, it can tolerate oven temperatures much higher than those thought to be safe for nonstick cookware.

Pros:

Classic and durable

Easily transfers from stovetop to oven, allowing you to finish cooking a roast in the oven after it has been seared

Some uncoated cast iron pans come already seasoned

Cons:

It needs to be seasoned, or rubbed with several layers of oil to prevent rusting

Some iron skillets cook food unevenly

Cleaning can be difficult at first, but the process becomes simpler with seasoning

Reseasoning with oil is necessary occasionally

Dishwasher not recommended

They can rust in a moist environment if not seasoned

Enameled Cast Iron

source: facebook.com

These traditional, vibrant pieces are perfect for searing, sautéing, browning, and frying. They move easily from your stovetop or oven to your dining table. Covered appliances such as Dutch ovens are ideal for roasting, braising, stewing, and slow-cooking meat.

Pros:

Heats up gradually, uniformly, and efficiently

Acidic substances do not react with a durable coating.

Oven-safe to 260°C

Dishwasher-safe

Corrosion resistant

Cons:

Heavy, and when filled with food, it becomes even heavier

Dutch ovens with small handles can be difficult to move from stovetop to oven

Enamel can chip

Choose Your Pieces

If you’re creating a set of cookware from scratch, you will need a stockpot, various skillets and pots, and lids that fit your cooking style and serving size. Manufacturers count lids that fit multiple pieces of cookware in a set as one piece when they are packaged in sets. If you use only a few pieces and the rest are just taking up space in your cabinet, then a set with more pieces may not be the best option.

Match Your Cookware to Your Cooktop

source: matchbox.com.au

Finally, think about how your cooktop and new cookware work together. A smooth top range requires non-warping pans with a flat bottom. Even though gas ranges are a little more forgiving, the pan’s bottom and the burners should still make good contact. Using an induction cooktop requires using magnetic cookware. When you shop in-store, carry a magnet with you; a piece is compatible with an induction cooktop or range if it adheres to the bottom. When shopping online, ensure to read the specs carefully.

Consider What You Cook

Your selection of pots and pans will depend on what you cook regularly. For example, you’ll want a cast-iron skillet that promotes even browning if you frequently sear meat. Nonstick frying pans work best for delicate dishes like fish, pancakes, and scrambled eggs. And almost any food that needs to be seared or browned can be cooked in stainless steel.

While a stock pot works well for soups and pasta boiling, a Dutch oven is a better option if you prefer to cook stews or sauces slowly. You can even bake bread, boil, brown and braise in a Dutch oven, which can be effortlessly moved from the stovetop or oven to the table. You can use a multipurpose Dutch oven to cook nearly anything.

In a restaurant kitchen, there are a number of machines that are used for different purposes, from chopping to mixing, shredding, kneading, frying, baking and more. And it’s thanks to these machines that you can create a versatile menu that can cater to everyone’s taste, from pasta lovers to French fry addicts.

However, the more machines in your restaurant kitchen, the less space you have on disposal, which can affect employees’ freedom of movement. In addition, in order to complete a single dish, kitchen workers need to run from one machine to the other, which not only takes time but it can also tire them out.

Luckily, restaurant workers can cut out time-consuming steps and free up some space with the help of a universal machine for food processing. A universal food processor is a machine that is equipped to chop, dice, shred, knead, cook and freeze. This way, the machine can complete a single dish by itself without the need to take any additional steps between the raw ingredients and the final product. From meat pie fillings to risotto, delicious spreads, vibrant jams and soft cheeses – this machine can create a variety of dishes in a single cycle, eliminating the need to run from one machine to another.

As a result, dishes that would take hours to complete can all be finished in just a matter of minutes. With that being said, by investing in such a versatile machine for food processing, you can significantly reduce the duration of the prep time as opposed to using several machines or preparing by hand. This way, your kitchen is able to prepare a larger number of meals throughout the day and your guests will be satisfied by your speedy service.

In addition, a quality machine for food processing can also enhance the natural taste of the dish made. State-of-the-art food processors, such as the RoboQbo, use revolutionary technology and have a vacuum sealing system that can maintain and strongly enhance the original flavour and colour of the ingredients used.

What’s more, a food processor such as the RoboQbo can allow you to precisely set pressure, ambient atmosphere, speed and temperature of cooking – giving you utmost control over the entire process. In addition, it can also allow you to save your recipes and always achieve consistent results and top quality every time. When it comes to keeping this machine clean, models like the RoboQbo feature a fully automatic cleaning system with automatic water discharge, making maintenance super easy.

Aside from choosing the right kitchen cabinets, selecting the right type of sink is paramount. Whether for preparing a meal, cooking, cleaning up or doing the dishes, all these things require using the sink in one way or another. That being said, here are some important aspects to consider before choosing a kitchen laundry sink.

Kitchen Sink Styles

Since everything in a kitchen needs to be mixed and matched properly, choosing the perfect kitchen sink is essential. These days, manufacturers have surpassed themselves in the creation of kitchen sinks wherein the user can choose between oval, circle, rectangular and square sink shapes. The one you choose should match the overall kitchen style, so if you aren’t not sure what’s right, it is best to consult with a professional.

Kitchen Sink Sizes

Just like with everything else, kitchen sinks can come in a range of sizes in order to meet each and every customers’ need. For instance, a larger kitchen laundry sink can provide more space for washing a greater amount of dishes, but looking from another point of view, it can decrease the counter space. Thus, before making any decision, it’s best to take both pros and cons of each and every kitchen sink size and after that make the right decision. This especially goes for smaller kitchens, as they need to have all the kitchen elements carefully chosen in order to meet all requirements.

Number of Bowls

This usually is closely related to whether the dishes are done manually or not. Usually, sinks with bowls have one bigger one in order to allow for washing larger things like pans or to soak more dishes. In other words, choosing the number of bowls should mainly depend on one’s personal needs and budget of course.

Kitchen Sink Materials

Generally speaking, kitchen sinks are usually made from enamel-coated cast iron, stainless steel, solid surfaces (granite and engineered stone) and composites. According to manufacturers, for those looking for the sturdiest option, stainless steel is the ideal material as it’s durable and hard-wearing. On the other hand, those who care for the look of the sink and would be able to take good care of it, choosing solid surfaces would be ideal. However, according to studies, the most popular and commonly used kitchen sink material is the enamel-coated cast iron as it’s appealing and stylish. Its main downside is that it can be easily scratched and can wear over time, thus it is not suitable for those who don’t pay attention when placing the dishes into the sink.

From event caterers to Chinese takeout restaurants – many businesses in the food industry rely on disposable dinnerware. Unfortunately, disposable plates, cutlery, food and drink containers are a real concern for the environment as they are usually made of plastic or Styrofoam. Since these materials are non-degradable, the discarded dinnerware tends to pile up in landfills and pollute our soil, rivers and oceans.

With that being said, many businesses consider making an eco-conscious change by purchasing wooden dinnerware wholesale. Wooden dinnerware is completely biodegradable and easy to compost, meaning it can be used to fertilize plants. While switching to wooden dinnerware has obvious benefits for the environment, there are also many ways this can help you as a business.

Attract a Wider Customer Base

Competition is fierce when you’re in the food industry, which means you need to find ways to appeal to as many people as possible. And opting for green disposables can certainly help you do so. Today, educated and responsible consumers are more likely to support businesses that generate less waste and help in the fight against climate change. With that being said, by using eco-friendly and biodegradable dinnerware you can attract more customers.

Join the Trend

Australia has already banned single-use plastic bags. Over the past three months, there has been an 80% decline in plastic bags, and it’s expected that this trend will move on to food containers, beverage containers, straws, balloons and other types of single-use plastic. So now that there’s a country wide shift towards sustainability, businesses looking for ways to stay current will adopt this practice too. Even packaging manufacturers have noticed the trend which is why wooden dinnerware wholesale prices are continually decreasing. In other words, eco-friendly food containers may become cheaper to purchase than plastic ones.

Maintain an Ideal Serving Temperature

Having a thicker structure than paper, Styrofoam or plastic means that wood is very bad in conducting heat. With that being said cups and bowls made of wood are better in keeping hot foods hot and cold foods cold. And when it comes to the quality of food, serving temperature is just as important as taste. Therefore, when served in wooden containers, your food can maintain its ideal temperature for longer which will surely be appreciated by your customers.

Preserve the Safety of Your Food

Plastic dinnerware is appealing to many businesses because it looks smooth and modern. But in order to look that way they are usually enhanced with a number of chemicals, such as artificial paint, BPA, phtalates and chlorine. Given the right conditions, such as high temperature and moisture, these chemicals can leak into the food that’s being served. On the other hand, wooden dinnerware made of bamboo or sugar cane is 100% free from any nasty chemicals which makes it a much healthier choice.

Given the fact that there is a great number of commercial freezers available on the market, it is only natural that you may get confused when deciding which one is the best and most suitable option for your business. Since each type of freezer has specific features, read on for more detailed info on what each one offers.

Countertop Freezers

This type of freezer is the perfect space-saving food storage solution for commercial kitchens, be it for schools, restaurants, hotels or shops. What makes a countertop freezer stand out from all the others is that it combines flexible freezer capacity alongside with highly convenient worktop counter space. The solid countertop is usually made of durable stainless steel which can be used for either food preparation or for a surface on which you can put smaller kitchen appliances (microwaves, ice cream machines etc). An additional perk that comes with a countertop freezer is its wide range of models. It comes in single, double or triple door models the handles of which can be adjusted for left or right-handed use, all in order to suit individual needs. Moreover, for simpler management, this type of freezer comes with flexible shelves, which allow you to store bulky boxes or larger containers of food.

Upright Freezers

Uprights are sometimes referred to as cabinet freezers and compared to countertops, these are bigger and have a larger storage capacity. In addition, upright cabinet freezers generally fill in higher areas which are sometimes considered a wasted space in professional kitchens. Due to their size and maneuverability, upright freezers can be positioned much closer to your food preparation areas than, say, cold rooms or walk-in freezers. Similarly to countertop freezers these too have adjustable shelves which make them compatible for storage of larger food boxes and packages.

Chest Freezers

Chest freezers are wide open except for their removable hanging baskets, or, in some cases, dividers. This makes it possible for them to offer more usable space than upright freezers. Chest freezers are the better choice in instances when there are power failures. In these cases, chest freezers tend to keep food frozen longer than its counterparts. What makes these freezers inconvenient is the fact that they are harder to keep organized, especially when you need a product that is buried under a pile of other items.

Low Freezers

Low freezers are above knee height and are designed to provide a base for other commercial kitchen equipment. This makes them similar to countertop freezers, but low freezers have less storage capacity. The height makes it convenient to position larger kitchen appliances than the ones you can put on countertop freezers. Here you can use the space to place convection ovens and griddles on top. An option that differentiates this type from all the others is that it can be set to fridge or freezer mode with ease. Moreover, a low freeze comes with individually controlled drawers. This flexibility reduces the need for separate units.

Who doesn’t want to feel like a prince/princess at least once a week with a royal start of the day: breakfast in bed. I’ve been in love with the idea that I made a pact with my husband: we do the breakfast in bed ritual every Sunday. Not just that it makes you feel like royalty, but a breakfast in bed does magic to your love life; it sparkles romance. There are tons of other reasons why breakfast in bed is the ultimate way to show affection, care and love to your partner, but just the fact that you got up earlier and made the effort to prepare it all should be enough. Plus, the smile on your partner’s face, the positive energy and the happiness he/she’ll feel at the moment of waking up is priceless.

It’s not a hard task to prepare breakfast in bed for your love; maybe just the getting up earlier part. However, this is not just serving a bowl of cereal and milk; it’s a little more than that. One thing is for sure: breakfast in bed is something everyone should experience in the course of their lives. Which is why I’ve made this short and simple guide to creating the perfect breakfast in bed experience.

First things first: the platter

When it comes to all the types of platters you can use for this purpose, the choice truly is big and a lot of people get confused and frustrated. It’s because there’s often a misconception: what your eye finds appealing and beautiful, versus what theory suggests you use. Well, that really has nothing to do with the meaning of the platter here – I’d say go with what makes you happy. If you think wooden platters are perfect for serving the breakfast in bed, then go with a fancy, vintage-looking wooden platter. If you’re more into classy, sophisticated pieces, choose something made of metal. Just make sure what you get is big enough to hold everything in place.

Bowls, cutlery and the flower

Take out the best you own! Breakfast in bed is a special occasion that asks only for the best. Depending on your style and how you perceive your partner, choose plain coloured bowls made of fancy ceramic, or something very colourful and painted if you think your partner would enjoy in it more. No need to say that the cutlery needs to be shining, right? And last but not least, the small breakfast table vase with a fresh flower in; it’s morning and there’s no better ‘good morning’ than a piece of nature along with your food. Okay, maybe the ‘good morning’ kiss, but you get the point.

And of course, the breakfast

It may be a cliché, but the English breakfast is by far my most favourite breakfast in bed option. I’m not a huge meat-eater in the morning, neither is my husband so we try to keep the meat element as rare as possible. Eggs, a few very thin pieces of bacon, tomatoes and toast bread complemented with one hot, dark and heavenly smelling coffee to instantly wake you up, and a glass of vitamins in the form of a freshly squeezed orange juice. Yummy.

Of course, all this should be wrapped up with a lot of love, positive energy and smiles. Kisses and hugs. And a very simple: “Wake up baby, I made you breakfast in bed”.

Getting the grease off gas cook tops is one of the most hated chores, but for the safety of your family, these kitchen appliances need to be regularly cleaned. Aside from cleaning the daily splatters and spills on cook tops, periodical deep cleaning is more than needed since grease builds up. Unlike electric cook tops that are extremely easy to clean, gas cook tops require a bit more effort and time.

Messy serving, boiling of pots and food spillage can all result in stains on gas cook tops that are difficult to remove. Some foods can even burn on the top surface or onto the grates, leaving more severe stains. Removing food stains without leaving damage on the cooktop requires using proper tools and efficient cleaning method. The longer you leave the food on the cooktop, the more difficult it will be to remove it without damaging the surface of the appliance.

But is cleaning gas cook tops without using special stainless steel sprays even possible? Yes, it is. To get your gas cooktop shining, all you need is a clean kitchen towel, a dish soap, a sponge and a scrub brush. This is the most efficient and easiest way to remove the grease using only soap and water. Here are few super-easy cleaning tips to help you bring your cooktop shine back.

First, remove the grates and knobs from your gas cooktop, if possible. Then, fill the sink with hot water and mix it with 2 spoons of liquid dish detergent. Soak the grates and knobs into the soapy warm water for about 15 minutes, to loosen the burned foods.

Next wipe the grates and knobs with a mesh pad. Then, rinse all the pieces with clear water and wipe dry.

Wipe and scrub away all the grease residue and burned-on foods, re-soaping your sponge or cloth as much as needed.

Scrape the burned-on foods from your gas cooktop using a plastic knife or spatula to prevent scratches (metal scrapers leave scratches). Then, wipe the debris away from your cooktop with a wet cloth.

Mix 1 part water and 2 parts baking soda to form a super cleaning paste. Apply this paste on a wet cloth and scrub the remaining dirt from your cooktop. This paste will remove any remaining stubborn dirt from your cooktop.

Take a wet cloth (moisten the cloth in the sink with soapy water) to wipe down the top of the range. Rinse with a clean water and wipe dry.

Check the holes of the burner for any clogs that burned foods may cause. If there are any, use a wire cleaner to remove the debris from the holes before putting the grates and knobs back on.

If someone asked you if there is something worse than doing the dishes, your answer would probably be ‘No’. But there is. Although a common plumbing problem in any household, a clogged kitchen sink can be quite annoying. It is the dreaded disaster. However, it happens often. Due to daily use, debris slowly builds up in the drainpipes of the sink causing it to get clogged.

Fortunately, unclogging a kitchen sink is not a difficult task and does not require calling a plumber. It is really a simple DIY project. There are few pretty simple ways you can try to unclog your kitchen sink. Here are a few.

Use A Plunger

The first step to unclog a kitchen sink is to use a plunger. A common household plunger can get the job done. The secret to unclogging a kitchen sink with a plunger is knowing how to use this ‘rubber cap on long handle’ device correctly. Therefore, plunge both sides of the kitchen sink to try to clear the stoppage. When correctly used, a plunger can be a very effective tool.

Remove The Trap

If your clogged kitchen sink cannot be cleared with a plunger, the next thing to try is removing the trap. Although the shape of the trap has an important purpose, it can also become easily clogged with debris washed down the sink drain. By removing the drain trap, you will have direct access to the clog, making it easy to clear it out.

Drain Snake

If the above mentioned two ways do not give any results and your sink is still clogged, try to snake the drain. The mini-rooter or medium drain machine is the best option for a kitchen sink drain. If you don’t have a drain machine, you can rent one. This makes a much more affordable option than purchasing a drain snake.

Drain Cleaner

If clogs become a common occurrence on your kitchen sink, using a mild drain cleaner on a regular basis may be a good idea. When you notice that the kitchen sink draining is getting slow, using a drain cleaner may avoid a complete blockage.

You can make your own drain cleaner with ingredients that you have in your kitchen. For that you will need:

½ cup baking soda

½ cup white vinegar

Instructions: Pour the baking soda down the drain. Next the white vinegar. An acid reaction should occur. Next pour hot water.
