As with most things on the market today, there are a lot of options for any product imaginable. This can be a little confusing sometimes, especially if you are looking for new art tools such as a pen in order to artistically write or draw.

Well, first, you should know what you want to do with the art pen. Different pens can be used for different types of art, and the more you get to experiment with your style you will know exactly what you need for your next project. So, let’s look at the 9 most popular pens for artistic writing and drawing.

Ballpoint Pens

Most homes and businesses use ballpoint pens, which have ink that is made from oil and is quite thick. The ink comes out of a round steel tip that moves over the surface of the paper. Most people don’t think of pens when they think of art or drawing, but some artists do use them to make illustrations and sketches. These pens are cheap, dry quickly, don’t smudge or bleed through paper, and last a long time.

However, luxury ballpoint pens offer a more refined way to write, making it easier and neater to write or sketch thus making them a good investment. They’re often made with a refillable ink system, and some come with special features like iridium tips – which are more durable than the standard steel tip – and extra-fine nibs.

In terms of the body, the classic plastic frame is discarded in favour of premium and solid materials such as metal and wood. They often feature a sleek and polished surface, with minimal branding. Some are even created by architecture and furniture designers, combining the art of composition with the utility of writing instruments.

Moreover, the ink is generally available in a range of shades and colours, as well as special finishes including glossy, glittery and metallic. The way the pigment is deposited on the page is smoother and takes longer to dry, which makes it ideal for calligraphy.

If you don’t want to skimp on your writing implements, then you definitely should consider getting a ballpoint pen with luxury credentials. Not only will it look great, but it’ll also make the whole creative process even more enjoyable and relaxing, which is something all artists need.

Gel Pens

Crafters would enjoy gel pen art because there are so many colours to choose from. The high viscosity makes it easy to use and is great for people who like to doodle or make adult colouring projects with it. Gel pens are great for multi-media projects because you can control the lines they make.

They are also great for writing, drawing, and writing with gel pens. The bright colours, which can include some that sparkle, are made with a pigmented, water-based gel that, once applied and dry, is resistant to fading and won’t get wet. The only problem with gel pens is that they tend to skip and don’t flow as smoothly as ballpoint pens.

Felt-Tip Pens

Felt-tip pens have water-based ink that dries quickly and is mostly used for colouring, writing, and small projects. The ink is held and released by the felt tip nib, which can be used as a fine liner or a broader tip. The ink-soaked refill makes sure that the colour is spread out evenly. They can be used to draw, colour, make comics, manga, and even special effects like mixing colours without smearing. Because of this, felt-tip pens are great for your own creative projects.

Brush Pens

The main difference between a brush and a brush pen is that with a brush, the artist has to put the colours on by hand, while with a brush pen, beautiful watercolour effects can be made without having to mix water, brush, and colours and are a great addition to your toolbox of essential art supplies. Brush pens have different kinds of tips and can have either man-made or natural bristles.

People like to use these pens for calligraphy and other kinds of art because they react to pressure and angle and can make different effects. Brush pens have different sizes, from fine to wide, and their tips can be soft or hard. They can also have two tips, which gives them a wider range of uses. When compared to other pens, these art pens are quite cheap. They come in various colours, or you can get them as a set of black pens.

Fountain Pens

These are made to work like the old-fashioned pens that you dip in ink and come with different metal nibs. Modern fountain pens have an ink reservoir built right in, so you don’t have to dip the tips into the ink.

People who like calligraphy use these pens because they can make lines with a lot of character. They can also be used to draw. These pens with water-based ink can be expensive, but many of them can be refilled and can be used with other kinds of art pens.

Dip Pens

These pens are like fountain pens, but instead of a reservoir of ink inside the pen, the tips are dipped into an inkwell. They also come with a variety of metal tips, and illustrators, cartoonists, and people who do calligraphy like to use them.

This is a more classic or as some would like to call it ” vintage” way to use an art pen, but many people like it because it’s easy to switch colours and switch between different kinds of ink. some people really buy it simply for the experience itself, however, be mindful that dip pens’ ink may take longer time to dry.
