We all love the way our hair looks after dying at the hair salon – it’s so shiny, soft and beautiful, but the color quickly fades away. Here are some easy tips that will help you keep your hair color last longer.
The biggest pest is the water
The water damages most of the color of your hair. Most of us think that shampoo or other styling products with chemical ingredients cause the color to fade (which also is true), but the water washes away most of the color molecules in the hair. Solution – do not wash your hair every day. It is harmful not only for the color, but also for the structure of your hair. Also, use small amount of shampoo and massage your roots gently. Wash hair 2 to 3 times a week max. If it’s hard for you not to wash your hair everyday, use dry shampoo.
Sun and UV rays
We all know that the sun lightens the hair. Its UV rays reduce the intensity of the color and make it look dull. Solution – avoid exposing your hair to the sun. Make it a habit to wear a hat and use leave-in conditioner with UV protection.
Other damages
Split ends is a common problem among many women. They not only affect the hair color, but the overall look of your hair as well. Thus, before you dye your hair, make sure you trim the split ends.
Also use hair masks and other nutrient products regularly. Healthy looking hair looks good, regardless of whether it is dyed or not.
Another helpful way to keep your hair color longer is by avoiding hot water. If your body can handle it, wash your hair with colder water. If you can’t, at least rinse the shampoo with cool water. Also, try to wash your hair with wine vinegar. To “lock and fix” the color of your hair, use a 100 ml wine vinegar. After shampooing, rinse your hair first with wine vinegar and then lukewarm water. Vinegar helps color last longer and gives extra shine to your hair.
